Workshop insists on ending child labor by 2025

A workshop was organized focusing on ending child labor in the country by 2025, to achieve the goal of sustainable development.
The secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and officials of the Department of Factory and Establishment Inspection (DIFE) and the International Labor Organization (ILO) made the request at the workshop entitled ” Strengthen the labor inspectorate to fight against child labor, ”according to a press release from the Ministry of Labor.
Md Ehsan-E-Elahi, secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment who was the main guest of the workshop, said DIFE inspectors should work sincerely to make workplaces free from child labor and unwanted incidents.
DIFE Inspector General (Additional Secretary) Md Nasir Uddin said child labor has already been eliminated from eight industries in the country.
DIFE has also taken various steps to eradicate child labor from the country by 2025, he said.
ILO Technical Specialist Insaf Nizam, Additional Inspector General of DIFE, Dr Golam Md Faruq, Senior Technical Advisor of ILO, Bangladesh Unit George Faller, President of Bangladesh Child Right Forum Md Mahbubul Haque and other officials also present at the workshop, among others.
