Vizient to Present at FDA CDER Quality Management Maturity Workshop
IRVING, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Dan Kistner, Vizient Group Senior Vice President, Pharmacy Solutions, will present at the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) Quality Management Maturity (QMM) Workshop at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to be held May 24-25, 2022. The two-day workshop will highlight the FDA’s work to develop a QMM scoring program that will objectively assess and score the QMM of facilities to manufacture of pharmaceuticals and active pharmaceutical ingredients.
On the second day of the workshop titled “Development and Impact of Quality Rating Systems”, Kistner will share Vizient’s efforts to support a more resilient supply chain and how group purchasing organizations could use QMM ratings. .
“A QMM scoring system will promote greater transparency of the maturity of drug manufacturers’ quality management practices, which will help address supply chain issues and alleviate drug shortages so that patients have access to essential medicines when they need them,” said Dan Kistner, group senior vice president, pharmacy solutions. “We commend the FDA for its commitment to ensuring high-quality drugs are available to patients and for providing this forum to foster collaboration to end drug shortages. In conjunction with the QMM workshop, the FDA is seeking stakeholder feedback through June 7, 2022, which will help inform the future regulatory approach of a quality metrics reporting program to which Vizient plans to share feedback.
