MACAU, July 1 – The University of Macau (UM), Tsinghua University and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) hosted the 4e China IC Progress Workshop (ICAC 2022) online. 49 experts in integrated circuit (IC) design gave presentations at the workshop, which attracted more than 3,900 registered spectators. About 60% of registered audience members are academics, with the rest coming from industry.

It was sponsored by seven major chip design companies, namely Huawei HiSilicon, Beken Corporation, Sanechips, Silergy, GigaDevice, 3Peak and NewRadio Tech. The ICAC workshop provided a high-level platform for scholars and practitioners from China’s IC design industry to openly discuss technical topics, seek partnerships and stimulate new ideas. Its lecturers included renowned professors from institutions such as MIT, Tsinghua University, Peking University, UM, UESTC, City University of Hong Kong, Fudan University and the Southeastern University, as well as representatives from NewRadio Tech. The workshop covered a wide range of topics, including analog and mixed-signal electronics, digital transformation and machine learning, wired and wireless communications, and ultra-low-power power and design.

The workshop included two additional special sessions. The first was the International Semiconductor Circuit Conference (ISSCC) China Promotion Event, organized by the Far East Regional Committee of the ISSCC and co-hosted by the ICAC. Academician Huang Ru, President of Southeastern University, delivered a welcome speech encouraging Chinese researchers and engineers to bring more innovations in chip design and present them on the platform. international form of the ISSCC. This was followed by a presentation by Professor Law Man Kay, an expert from the State-Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI (University of Macao) and Vice-Chairman of the International Technical Program Committee (ITPC) of the ISSCC for Far East. Prof. Law provided an update on the ongoing preparation for ISSCC 2023. Also during the event, 11 ITPC members presented the latest technological developments in their fields. The second special session was a forum of invitees from industry sectors. Organized by Sun Nam, a professor at Tsinghua University and president of ICAC 2022, the forum brought together five company founders and chief technology officers for an in-depth discussion on topics including industry-university collaboration.
