For immediate release

STOW – Library Director Tina McAndrew and the Randall Library Building Committee invite residents to a community forum, where project architects will share three options for renovating and improving the building.

The DesignLAB company, which has experience on projects similar to the Randall Library, has developed three pathways that the construction committee will assess taking into account community feedback.

The forum will take place on Thursday, November 18 from 7 p.m. Residents must pre-register to access the meeting on Zoom. Residents should click here to pre-register and access Thursday’s meeting.

DesignLAB will share the three options for renovating the library:

  • Keep the entire existing structure, upgrade it to code, and add additional functionality.
  • Built from the 1975 addition and from the existing children’s area which would allow improved functionality.
  • Tear down the 1975 addition and build a smaller two-story addition in its place. This option would meet the library’s functional goals and also align with feedback residents shared in a recent community survey.

In 2019, Town Meeting approved the spending of design money for a renovation and expansion. The select committee appointed a construction committee, which was tasked with developing and issuing a request for proposals, and then evaluating the consultants.

DesignLAB will provide further details on the costs associated with its proposals at the community forum.
