The East Haddam sites are open to visitors this weekend as part of the fall celebrations

EAST HADDAM – The coming weekend features open days for two local monuments: the Palmer-Warner House on Saturday, and Amasa day house on Sunday.
Visitors can walk through the first floor of the Palmer-Warner House, built in 1738, to learn more about the work Connecticut Landmarks is doing to open the property, according to an announcement. Guests are invited to explore the historic grounds of 307 Town Street, take in the views from the back porch, tour the newly restored barn, and speak with appraisers to help the organization shape the future of the property, according to a press release.
At the Amasa Day House, at 33 Plains Rood in Moodus (a village in East Haddam), visitors can explore the first floor, which is largely furnished with items belonging to members of the Day family, according to the ‘announcement. These include locally produced toys and ceramics and silver, as well as the original 19th century floor and staircase stencil.
At 1 p.m. Kandie Carle of the East Haddam Stage Co. and Marc Casslar of the Vintage Dance Society of CT will perform on the field. They will highlight social dances around 1860, including the waltz, the polka and the Schottische.
Both events will take place rain or shine. Registration for a timed entry is recommended. Same-day on-site registration will only be allowed if the event has not reached its maximum capacity. To register for the Saturday event, go to ctl-palmer-warner-ehfc.eventbrite.com and the Sunday event, ctl-amasa-day-ehfc.eventbrite.com.
Visitors are required to wear masks indoors, and masks are encouraged for outdoor programs where distancing is difficult.
