Texas Historical Commission Hosts Amarillo Workshop for Preservation Plan | KAMR

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR / KCIT) – The Texas Historical Commission is seeking community participation, hosting various in-person and virtual forums, giving Texas residents the opportunity to help recommend actions to preserve the Texas history through the historic preservation of Texas. Plan.
Amarillo residents will have the chance to make their voices heard on this project at 10 a.m. Thursday (December 2) at the Santa Fe Building, located at 900 S Polk St. in downtown Amarillo. According to a press release from the commission, this workshop is an opportunity to:
- Identify the threats and opportunities facing the historical and cultural resources of Texas;
- Address disaster preparedness, response and recovery related to Texas heritage;
- Discover success stories in local preservation;
- Help shape the vision for the future of historic preservation in Texas;
- Define the direction of statewide historic preservation activities over the next 10 years.
âThe state-wide planning process encourages broad public participation in discussions on the challenges of preserving cultural and historical resources,â the statement said.
