Radio workshop to explore well-being “at your fingertips”
Nicolena Miller, Executive Director of the Olympic Peninsula Healthy Community Coalition, presents “BE WELL — Wellness is within your reach” at the upcoming WOW! Working on the Wellness Radio Forum scheduled for 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, August 10 on KSQM 91.5 FM
The Olympic Peninsula Healthy Community Coalition (OPHCC) strives to improve the daily lives of all community members – first by encouraging individual activities and resources, then by creating a coalition of community service organizations , health professionals, educators, legislators, business owners and individuals.
“What I’m learning,” says Miller, “is that wellness is within our reach. Together, we can empower everyone to take charge of their health.
The current project aims to encourage individuals to take responsibility for their own well-being through small, simple steps. Miller will explore the four pillars that create holistic health: mind, body, spirit and community.
WOW! Working on Wellness is a health education program of Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic – Sequim’s free clinic, which provides basic emergency care and chronic health care services to uninsured members of the community. The work is supported by more than 70 volunteers, including doctors, other healthcare professionals and laypeople, as well as private and public donations from the Sequim community and beyond.
The basic urgent care clinic is open to patients on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. Those interested in supporting the clinic can call 360-582-0218.
