Otero will host a community forum on strategic planning – La Junta Tribune Democrat

By SARAH PETRAMALA Otero College
In February, Otero College began developing a new five-year strategic plan. There were meetings with focus groups and roundtables held between the various campus departments, the Otero Advisory Board, the Otero Foundation Board of Directors, alumni and current students. This planning process takes place to help set goals for the institution as well as develop plans to achieve those goals. The components of our strategic plan will focus on vision, mission, values, goals, strategies and key performance indicators.
The Strategic Planning Committee has released two-question surveys called “Two Tuesdays” to which everyone is invited to participate. Every Tuesday until the end of the planning calendar, survey questions will be sent to employees and the survey link will be posted on the Otero website. Community members are encouraged to participate.
The planning committee would appreciate input from our communities of interest; therefore, an Open Forum will be held on Wednesday, March 23 at 6 p.m. in the Center for Humanities, Room 112. There will be signs to help find the room at both main entrances to the building. The forum should end in two hours. A virtual option will be available if you are unable to attend, however, in-person attendance is encouraged to facilitate conversation.
After reviewing feedback from roundtables and weekly surveys, the Strategic Planning Committee will draft a plan for the campus and community review. The final draft should be completed by mid-April and submitted to the Otero Advisory Board. Pending their approval, a presentation to the campus community will take place by the end of April 2022. The plan will also be posted on the website.
