Michael Imeson is a contributing editor of The banker magazine, which is part of the Financial Times Group, and senior content editor at FT Live, the conference division of the FT. He also owns Financial & Business Publications, an editorial services agency providing services to banks and other organizations. Before founding the agency, he was a reporter for The Times and The Sunday Times in London.
He is a member of the advisory board of the European Risk Management Council; a member of the Institute for Internal Communication (MIIC); and a former London School of Economics mentor. He has written and edited several books including The dangers of e-banking, The The future of the Building Society movement, and Financing growth.
He studied at the London School of Economics for a Masters in Public Administration and at the University of Bradford for a BA in History and Literature.
Upon his appointment, Michael said: “It is an honor to take on the lead role on the CISI FinTech Professional Forum committee. The committee organizes several events per year covering a diverse and exciting range of topics relevant to CISI members interested in FinTech. Since the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, these have become virtual events – live webinars – and I have to say they have been very successful, not least thanks to the excellent capabilities of CISI’s event management staff with whom we work closely together.
“I first became involved with the Institute in early 2015 when I hosted a lunchtime event on cybersecurity, and soon after I joined the Institute as a member. I joined the FinTech Committee in 2016, I became Vice-Chairman in mid-2018 and I am today Chairman. I would like to thank Martin Watkins, the past chair of the committee, for his invaluable work in this position.
“I am also involved in some of the other activities of the Institute. For example, I am a critic of the Manage cybersecurity qualification workbook, and occasional contributor to the Institute’s online magazine The article.
“The CISI operates to the highest standards. Being a member has certainly helped me improve my professionalism as a journalist, copywriter, event planner and moderator.
Richard Bennett, CISI Membership Manager, said: “I would like to thank outgoing President Martin Watkins for his leadership and guidance over the past two years. We look forward to working with Michael to help shape the upcoming Fintech Professional Forum Virtual Discussions and Webinars to ensure members are aware of emerging themes and ideas in this rapidly evolving industry.
