IPRO Executive Joins National Forum Committee on Quality

LAKE SUCCESS, NY, February 4, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Susan Caponi, MBA, RN, CPHQ, Executive Director of the End-stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Network Program at IPRO, has been selected by the National Quality Forum (NQF) to serve on its new Rural telehealth and health system preparation committee.
This multi-stakeholder committee creates a measurement framework linking the quality of care provided by telehealth, health system preparedness, and health outcomes in disasters or emergencies. The NQF convenes the committee to perform an environmental scan that will document changes to previously identified measures and measure concepts related to telehealth and health system readiness and propose new priority measures or new measurement concepts. .
âIt is an honor to participate in the important work of this committee,â says Caponi. âThe link between telehealth and health system preparedness for disasters and emergencies has been clearly demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic. And this link is even more pronounced in rural communities that already face a lack of resources, health facility closures, shortages of health professionals and limited transportation options. “
Funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the committee’s work will help understand the impact of telehealth on the quality of care and health system readiness in rural areas, including health systems including Native Americans living in rural areas depend on them.
The National Quality Forum (NQF) works with members of the healthcare community to together drive measurable improvements in health. NQF is a not-for-profit, member-based organization that gives all healthcare stakeholders a voice to advance quality measures and improvement strategies that lead to better results and more great value.
