Free WOW! wellness workshop to highlight body mechanics
Vonnie Voris leads “Bone Building, Body Mechanics & Fall Prevention?”, a free WOW! Working on Wellness Radio Forum scheduled for Wednesday, May 8 from 2-3 p.m. on KSQM 91.5 FM.
Voris is a physical therapy specialist in Sequim with over 35 years of diverse experience who works at the FYZICAL Balance and Therapy Center in Sequim and receives referrals from many different physicians and specialists.
The author of “How We Garden: Body Saving Advice from a Physical Therapist,” Voris offers in her presentation to cover facets of how physiotherapy can help people lead better lives, which she defines as living filled with activities they love.
While most people may be familiar with physiotherapy for the treatment of knee, hip, shoulder, neck and back pain, over Voris’ long career she has also seen the scope of what physiotherapy can offer, according to program organizers.
Research has shown the effectiveness of a physical approach to improving function, and Voris will explain and offer guidance on the role of physiotherapy in: preventing falls; prevention of vertebral injuries and fractures; bone building; treatment of incontinence, pelvic prolapse and pelvic pain; and management of swelling and lymphedema.
