District to Host Workshop to Present Public Visions for Boca Teeca – Boca Raton’s Most Trusted Source For Information

Members of the Boca Raton community can share their visions for the future of the former Boca Teeca Golf Course at a workshop hosted Wednesday by Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District Commissioners.

The meeting, held at 6 p.m. in the Maple Room at Sugar Sand Park, will provide residents with another opportunity to help shape the creation of Boca Raton’s newest park.

“We want to create a facility that best meets the needs of our community,” said District Chair Erin Wright. “This forum is the perfect way for residents to tell us what they want.

In addition to the curators, project architects from the recently-winning firm of Miller Legg will be on hand to hear ideas from residents.

Residents who cannot attend in person can join the meeting virtually through Microsoft Teams at https://tinyurl.com/4k5by5yw.

The District purchased the Ocean Breeze Golf Course, formerly Boca Teeca, at the request of Boca Raton City Council with the idea of creating a new public golf course that would replace Boca Raton Municipal. At the time, the city decided to sell the Boca Municipal Golf Course land to a developer.

When in 2021 MSD Partners gifted the golf course on Congress Ave. to the city, district commissioners began debating the wisdom of building a golf-only facility in Boca Teeca.

A golf facility remains a possibility for the site. Other suggestions the district has received in previous meetings and surveys include walking trails, tennis courts, pickleball courts and open spaces. Community residents are encouraged to voice their support for these ideas or suggest a new proposal.

Based on community feedback, Commissars may choose to include multiple pieces of equipment in the new facility or choose to focus on a single objective.

The master planning process will continue through the summer and the district will provide updates in a timely manner.
