DepEd-5 envisions 305 public schools as pilot sites for F2F classes
CITY OF LEGAZPI – The Region 5 (Bicol) Department of Education (DepEd) said it was considering 305 public schools in the region as pilot sites for face-to-face (F2F) lessons once President Rodrigo Duterte will have given the green light in areas at low risk for coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Gilbert Sadsad, regional director of DepEd-5, during a virtual media forum on Wednesday, said they were simply awaiting final approval of limited classes in schools in rural communities identified with low numbers of Covid- 19.
Sadsad said he had conducted surveys, mapping schools that could be considered pilot areas.
He said, however, that they could not yet publish the list of these institutions.
Sadsad said that according to the guidelines, a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 20 learners would be accommodated in a classroom, which must be installed with plastic partitions or sanitary barriers.
Students should reside near the selected pilot schools so that they do not need to travel, and since the lessons would be a half-day session, they would not be allowed to have lunch there to prevent them from traveling. socialize during the break.
Schools should also have separate entry and exit passages where alcohol and disinfectants should be available.
Meanwhile, teachers should ensure that minimum health protocols are strictly observed, such as wearing a face mask, physical distancing, and avoiding mass gatherings. (ANP)
