Community Forum: Internet Connectivity and Access to Healthcare
The COVID pandemic has underscored the importance of having access to affordable and reliable high-speed Internet service. But for many people, accessibility also means having the necessary technology and the ability to use it. The use of telemedicine, i.e. remote access to health care services, has grown in recent years. And the COVID pandemic has accelerated this process. People with chronic illnesses, physical disabilities, behavioral health issues, age or language issues faced increased barriers to accessing care because they lacked internet access.
Health care industry leaders have begun to recognize that social factors, such as access to food, adequate housing and transportation, can have a significant impact on people’s health. Internet accessibility is increasingly one of these challenges.
Join us for our community forum on October 20e when national leaders who talk about the challenges and opportunities this Internet access presents for the health of our community.
