Community Forum for South Lakeport Annexation Project – The Bloom

The City of Lakeport and Lake County are hosting a Joint Community Forum on Thursday, March 10 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lakeport Cinema, 52 Soda Bay Road, Lakeport. The forum will provide residents, landowners and business operators in the South Lakeport Annexation Project area with the opportunity to hear how the proposed annexation would affect them.
The forum will include individual stations with city and county staff available to discuss specific topics. Topic stations will cover utilities (water, sewer and waste), roads and transportation, public safety (fire and law enforcement), and general annexation information (administration and finance).
The informal event will allow interested community members to speak directly with city and county officials about areas of concern to them.
In January, Lakeport City Council and the Lake County Board of Supervisors in a joint meeting unanimously passed a tax-sharing agreement that the two jurisdictions say will increase government efficiency. while providing improved services in the proposed annexation area.
Questions such as “How will these changes benefit my home, business or property?” and “Will I have to pay more taxes?” will be discussed by experts during the forum. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
The next step in the annexation process is a public hearing scheduled for March 16 before the Local Agency Formation Commission (Lake LAFCO). The intention is to complete the annexation in the fall of 2022.
