Community Forum: A New Curriculum for Education and Community

A recent report commissioned by Centro Hispano and developed by the Harwood Institute for Public Innovation, expressed the community’s strong interest in creating a better and more inclusive future. Based on a series of interviews with a wide range of city residents, the report highlighted “promising sparks of change”. But the challenge is to engage the wider community, creating a sense of engagement and opportunity for everyone.
The main focus of this work was the role of education in this effort. But, as the report suggests, education should not be seen as the sole responsibility of local public schools, but of the whole community.
While outlining the series of conversations that formed the basis of the report, it provides a nine-point strategy to help foster a more equitable and hopeful path for young people in Reading and their families. And it offers a way forward to strengthen our community through its education system.
Join us for what will be a very stimulating and engaging discussion.
