Colleges Present Introductory Cannabis Industry Workshop

The workshop is designed for people who want to learn more about opening, managing, or working in a cannabis business in New York.

Queens College, in partnership with Farmingdale State College, is offering a non-credit introductory workshop, “Get Started in the Cannabis Industry,” designed for individuals who want to learn more about opening, managing, or working in the a cannabis company in New York State.
According to Queens College officials, attendees will gain insight into the cannabis industry through presentations by distinguished faculty and have the opportunity to meet leaders in the cannabis community, as well as successful entrepreneurs. They will also learn about the FSC Cannabis Production and Management Certificate program and will earn a combined QC and FSC Cannabis digital micro-badge upon completion of the course. The number of places is limited to 25 participants. The registration fee is $25.
Course topics will include an introduction to the US cannabis industry; the role that medical marijuana has played in the development of the industry; the legal environment of the cannabis industry in New York State; management and marketing of a cannabis business; cannabis economy; cannabis plant science and production; and how to enter and progress in the cannabis industry.
A representative from the New York State Cannabis Management Office will provide an update on NYS regulations and policies.
“We are thrilled to partner with Farmingdale State College on this initiative and help create a pathway to entrepreneurship for populations who have previously been negatively impacted by cannabis legislation,” said the president. of Queens College, Frank H. Wu.
