âWe are going through a difficult time in the veterinary profession. Public access to veterinary medicine is affected both by the ongoing pandemic and by the province-wide shortage of veterinarians and veterinary personnel. Our Board remains focused on our mandate to manage the risks associated with the practice of veterinary medicine in Ontario, âsaid Dr. Gold.
Dr Gold was elected to College Council in 2017 and joined the Executive Committee in 2019. A graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College, Dr Gold has been a practicing companion animal clinician throughout his career and has been an owner and practitioner at River Oaks Veterinary Hospital since 1989.
In his spare time, Dr. Gold volunteers as a practitioner trainer at the Ontario Veterinary College.
Joining Dr. Gold on the College Executive Committee: Dr. Alana Parisi, First Vice-President; Dr Wade Wright, second vice-president; Dr Tyrrel of Langley, Past President and Ms Catherine Knipe, Member of the Public.
At the December Annual Council meeting, the College welcomed two new professional members following its election last October. Board members are Dr. Michael Zigler, Associate Veterinarian at the Toronto Animal Eye Clinic; and Dr. Sami Qureshi, a Hamilton pet veterinarian. Ottawa Pet Veterinarian Dr Wade Wright and Thunder Bay University Veterinarian and Pet Veterinarian Dr Patricia Alderson also remain on the Board for a second term.
